If the entire world’s a stage, then sisters Mallika and Jyoti were born to perform on it. From Mumbai’s glitz and Delhi’s dazzle to the inexhaustible energy of the livewire shows in Canada, the UK and Australia, their captivating performances have kept fans on edge for over 15 years.
The twenty-something sisters have covered varied genres of music, from Punjabi folk and hip-hop to a mix of Bollywood, Arabian, lounge and trance. And now, Kulveer Kaur aka Mallika and Harmeet Kaur aka Jyoti are all set to stake their claim to the title of the ‘youngest queens of Punjabi fusion-folk.’ Some of their released albums include Pawa de Bangla (2001), Mood-Badaama wali Kheer (2004), Akh da Nishana(2005), and Dance with Mallika Jyoti(2010).
Born, bred and well-buttered in the Punjab’s heartland, folk singing came naturally to Mallika-Jyoti at the young age of 10! They are now working on four new projects- with songs on Sikhi (Sikh spiritualism), traditional Punjabi folk (Kalis and chhands), wedding sangeet songs and New Age Music!
