Shobha Shekhar was born in a traditional South Indian family where music played a very important role. At a very young age, Shobha and her three sisters started learning the basics in Carnatic classical singing from their mother Viyalakshmi Iyer . Shobha’s early childhood and teen age was spent learning and singing various styles of music from Ghazals, Indian folk, Devotional songs, Marathi Bhav geet to Bollywood music. She won many music competitions at the National level in India. Best female singer in “Swarranjali” at the famous “Malhar Music festival” held in Bombay being one of them. Shobha is a studio recording artist and has lent her voice to many product commercials and jingles in India and Canada. She has done over 100 voice overs in many regional languages as well. She has released several private albums where she has sung in Hindi and regional languages like Tamil, Malayalam and Marathi.
