Aqua’s Red Rhythm & Blues is IndigiQueer music at its best. Creator, hand drummer, and lead vocalist, Aqua, writes songs inspired by their life experience as an Anishinaabe~Métis 2Spirit overcoming intergenerational trauma, homelessness, addictions, mental health, and violence. Weaving the deep resonance of the hand drum, soothing sounds of strings, and unforgettable harmonies into the universal language of love. The poetry of each song is beautifully brought to life through the hypnotic fancy shawl dancing of Nichole Leveck and Nazarene Pope. Rooted in Indigenous stories of resilience, they are a symbol of reconciliation on our shared lands and create space for healing.
