Jazz Mechanics

The Jazz Mechanics is an 18 piece big band committed to performing traditional and contemporary big band jazz with a Canadian focus. Founded in 1979 as an offshoot of the Brampton Concert Band, originally the Brampton Mechanics Band, to preform big band jazz for the community of Brampton and hence the name Jazz Mechanics.

The band has over the years performed at a very high level winning local music festivals and performed in Jazz Festivals in Canada and as far away as Italy and Austria. The Jazz Mechanics are the closing band on the big band stage at the Beaches Jazz Festival in Toronto every July.  Mechanics have performed with featured guest artists including Allen Vizzutti, Pat Labarbera, Guido Basso and Canadian Jazz icon Phil Nimmons. Also the band performs regularly in Gage Park and at the Rex Jazz Bar in Toronto.

Under the direction of Toronto composer/arranger/educator and jazz trombonist Andrew Jones the band stays committed to performing exciting big band jazz music composed and or arranged by Canadians.
