Nrityadeep – Gunja Chakravorty

Gunja’s connection with theatre and dance began at a very young age while growing up in Pune with an artist father who was a noted photographer and a theatre artist himself. As a child she was constantly eager to learn new forms of art especially performing arts. She first faced camera at the age of 13, while hosting a TV show in her hometown Pune, India.

As life turned out she moved to Toronto and has established herself in the banking industry with one of the leading financial institutions in Canada. Along with her career, she has always been in touch with her creative side. She hosted two television shows that were aired nationwide. Her recent credits include product commercials including voice acting in several projects, corporate narratives in corporate portfolios. Her latest short film as a lead actor is currently under post-production.

She has been training under the tutelage of Deva Gunaseelan (Toronto) as well Dr. Swati Daithankar (Pune, India) spanning over a decade. She founded her dance academy Nrityadeep in 2017 where she mainly teaches Bharatnatyam and also experiments with contemporary dance forms. Gunja is excited and grateful to perform a fusion of classical and contemporary medley at Vibrant Brampton with her group.
